12 November 2021 — The world of PolkaPets is taking another exciting turn as we expand our immersive NFT concept to include other popular blockchain ecosystems. Growing awareness and adoption of the PolkaPet World project is a vital step for our progression, and in honour of this mission we are happy to announce the launch of ProtoPets!
What Are ProtoPets?
ProtoPets are a new breed of pet created in partnership with projects across multiple blockchains, not just Polkadot. ProtoPets will still retain all the great project-related perks and benefits owners expect, and come in a variety of shapes, sizes and abilities.
In terms of their design, ProtoPets have a distinctive new colour scheme and designs on the front and back of the cards, with pets designed in partnership with each unique project. The ProtoPets will reflect the projects they’re created for in more ways than one, and come with a surprise or two as well.
How Do I Get a ProtoPet?!
Getting your hands on a ProtoPet is a little different from a standard NFT purchase, as you’ll need to stake specific project tokens in the corresponding staking pool within the PolkaPet DApp (TBA). All you have to do is hold a set amount of the specified token for 30 days in total, and ensure that tokens are staked in the ProtoPet staking pool for at least 14 of those days.
For example: If the required token was $PETS, you would be asked to hold X number of $PETS for at least 30 days, at least 14 of which would need to be with those tokens staked in the correct staking pool.
After the 30 day holding period has passed, a mystery box will be distributed to all participant’s wallets. A total of 400 Solarbeam ProtoPet NFTs will be available , with the top 200 stakers of $SOLAR in the pool receiving one Solarbeam ProtoPet each. Another 200 will be distributed via a random lottery to 200 more participants in the pool. That mystery box will be available to sell on the OpenSea marketplace and, following another 30 days, will reveal the ProtoPet NFT!
Our first ProtoPets partnership is one that will be sure to excite the community and more information will be released soon with the exact details on where to stake and when.
What Utilities Come With Your ProtoPet?
Due to the range of projects that we will be working with, ProtoPets will offer a wide range of utilities from each of the participating companies. ProtoPets could also include airdrops of partner tokens, or $PETS token, depending on the nature of the ProtoPet collaboration.
Additionally, ProtoPet NFTs may offer perks like access to VIP Discord and Telegram channels of our partners, entries on future whitelists for exclusive events and NFT drops, behind-the-scenes sneak-peeks at upcoming milestones, lottery entries, and much more!
We will be working closely with our partners to create some of the best utilities around with each and every ProtoPet, so keep your eyes peeled for upcoming ProtoPet drops!

PolkaPet World is an NFT project created by Bondly in partnership with some of the biggest names in the Polkadot ecosystem. Each PolkaPet is embodied as an artistic creature that represents a specific Polkadot project.
All PolkaPets hold unique project-specific utility to reward community members for holding their PolkaPet NFTs in their wallets. The utility can be a discount on fees, an airdrop of tokens to PolkaPet cardholders, or various other properties.
The $PETS token is the utility token used to engage with PolkaPet World products and services, as well as allowing governance rights and access to exclusive sales.
